The Rhythm has just begun...

Music has always been a passion of mine.

Ever since the day I began to understand the meaning of sound, tempos and harmonious melodies; ever since I first set my eyes upon that huge boxy thing called a Radiogram or a Gramophone; and ever since I knew about that thing called LP or EP or Vinyl, I have adored Music.

It helped that my Dad was an ardent fan on Music (and he still is). We used to own a Brown-coloured Gramophone replete with a Vinyl Record Player or Turn Table. My Dad used to put on some good Music when I was young. He had a series of wonderfully nostalgic albums that could be easily be called classic nowadays. They range from English Pop Tunes to Indonesian Classical Dances.

I grew up listening a lot to The Beatles, Elvis Presley, Frank Sinatra, Matt Monroe, Dean Martin, Connie Francis, Cliff Richard & The Shadows, Andy Williams, and a host of other classic crooners and balladeers.

On the local and Asian side, my Dad was a huge fan of Bob Tutopoly (and of course his ever-so-popular evergreen song, Widuri), Emilia Contessa, Titiek Sandhora, Titiek Puspa, Mochsein, Broery Marantika, Sharifah Aini, Uji Rashid, Jeffridin & The Siglap Five, and my all-time favourite Sanisah Huri.

Soon after, I began to develop my own "feel" for Music.

One of my favourite albums of all time happens to be a product of one of Malaysia's most talented entertainers of all time, Sudirman Haji Arshad. That album, "Lagu Anak Desa" perhaps contained one of the best collections of songs ever in the history of Malaysian Music. Songs like "Aku Penganggur", "Anak Gembala", "Sepetang Di Pinggir Bukit" and "Kau Akan Kembali" were typical of his style of music which became more apparent in his later albums. And "Hujan" was probably the first sentimental ballad I really admired.

Up to this day, I still keep those old Cassettes of many different singers whom I have loved all these years. Different genres of Music to keep me company during different times and different occasions.

This blog is a tribute to all the albums, songs and singers that have continuously added a wonderful zest of energy to the colours of my life. Of course, it is personal... Most blogs are meant to be. But in the midst of my inner seclusion, I'd like to share with you some thoughts I have about the Music around us.

The advent of Internet and various types of technology have only changed and transformed the musical platforms i.e. in the ways I can attain the sources for these new sounds. But, it will never diminish my ardour for Music...
